Atami Geisha Theatre

See Japan’s most famous traditional artists live onstage. You can meet the performers after the show, and get a photograph with them as a part of the general admission ticket, for the regular weekend shows. Performances are on most Saturdays and Sundays at 11am, with appearances by dancers and musicians, dressed in beautiful kimono. Reservations are not usually required, however we can assist you with making a reservation.

The Geisha theatre also offers custom bookings, for groups of four or more, at their cafe, attached to the theatre. We can also arrange an appearance by geisha, at Geisha House Atami. Price will depend on the season, day of the week, time and number of customers. Please let us know in advance and we can make enquiries for you.

How to get there - It is a 12 minute or 650 metre walk from Geisha House Atami Or...

..walk 230 metres (4 minutes) to the Wada bus stop, ride the 64 or 66 bus for 3 stops (2 minutes) then get off at Shimizumachi bus stop, then walk 60 metres (1 minute) to the theatre.

Kiunkaku Historical House

Kiunkaku is a beautiful compound of heritage buildings, which have served as a stately home and luxurious hotel. Now it is open to the public, who can view decadent private rooms and hotel rooms where famous Japanese literary figures stayed and gathered inspiration. You can explore many rooms in traditional Japanese and blended Western styles. You can also stroll in the traditional garden and watch the koi fish swimming in the pond. There is a gorgeous cafe in the building where you can enjoy tea, coffee and Japanese style sweets.

Atami Castle and Trick Art Museum

Would you like to visit the place where Godzilla and Kong had a Showdown? Atami Castle is the ultimate destination for lovers of mid-century film and retro culture.

 Take in a panoramic view of Atami from over 100 metres above sea level. From the castle, you can see a 360 degree view of the mountains, sea and islands surrounding Atami. Inside the castle, you can view exhibitions about castles in Japan, dress up in historical costume and view traditional Japanese Art. The entry ticket includes access to a game centre on the basement floor, where you can play retro games for as long as you like.

The Trick Art museum is located next to Atami Castle. You can meet a dinosaur, battle it out with a Great White Shark, or get gobbled up by King Kong, all in the safety of a two dimensional, optical illusion. A great bit of fun to add on to your day trip and a perfect way to brighten up your instagram posts.

How to get there - Walk 13 minutes, 900 metres, to the Atami Ropeway, then ride the ropeway to the top, then walk 3 minutes to the castle. Or…

Walk 450 metres, (6 minutes), to the Atami Marine Spa bus stop and ride the special Atami YuYu Bus for two stops, then get off at the Atami Castle stop. (On the return trip, please get off at the Somedonobashi bus stop and walk 450 metres (6 minutes) back to Geisha House Atami.

Entry fee - Around JPY 1100 (1800 JPY for a combined ticket with the Trick Art Museum)

Atami Ropeway

Take in stunning view of Atami’s town, mountains and sea, from above, as you rise to a mountaintop overlooking the sea. Enjoy the stunning view from the top, where you can also visit Atami Castle, the Trick Art Museum and the Hihokan Adult museum.
